k&k episode 110 - the one where they celebrate the non-smoking laws... and stuff...
In episode 110 we wax poetic about the fabulous new non-smoking laws, revisit the topic of Sarkozy, his girlfriend and his son, then chat about ads on tv and television tax, visiting the doctor and the phenomenon of over-medication in france, the juice bar and a perplexing situation involving vous, tu and kisses, and an outing at the movies.
This episode was brought to you by the word "respirer" (breathe).
Here are the electronic notices that the city put up about the new non-smoking law on New Years Eve.

Thanks for the mention! And I'm looking forward to doing some partying -- smoke free -- with you soon!
My opinion of why so many products in France are BEHIND the counter (including toothbrushes in some cases) is because the entire culture is geared around JOB SECURITY. So if you have to ask your local pharmacist to get you a packet of aspirin or Tylenol or a toothbrush -- well, then that creates the need for a job. Otherwise there can be no logical reason for not having more products be self-serve. I mean, if you have a headache and you know you normally just need some Tylenol, I think you should be able to just pick it up and pay for it without ceremony. But not in France!
"Sarkozy, his girlfriend" Does anyone remember President Franč…”is Mitterrand?Do you have over-the-counter antibiotics?
Totally off-topic, but there may soon be an end to Alice and her dirty, dirty dress....http://www.ariase.com/fr/news/prix-vente-alice-article-1423.html
same problem with the drugs in Belgium... my friend Erin went to the doctor and left with 7 prescriptions. She thought about asking the pharmacist if she needed them all, but then decided her insurance might not pay for it if she didn't take them all. I actually like the pharmacy system in Europe better - it can save you a trip to the doctor a lot of the time, since the pharmacist can give you stuff that isn't over the counter.oh, and btw, apparently, the medicines that you didn't use? you can donate to the third world. I don't know how, but one time I went to the doctor in France and I had something it turned out I was allergic to, so she took it for "le tier monde." ask your doctor!

Italy has that TV tax as well which completely blew my mind the first time my husband told me about it. heheAww to breathe fresh air (or at least smoke-free air). It makes such a difference, I am so unused to it that even getting into an elevator with someone who smells like smoke is hard to take. I can't wait to see The Other Boleyn Girl either. book was good - hope movie is great! I am also looking forward to a movie called Fanboys which is about star wars geeks trying to steal the 1st episode from George Lucas. LOL set in the 90s or 80s I forget. too funny.Great episode girls - glad to have you back on twice a week. =)
